Reunion weekend

Scott, Ella and I had a great time in Holland this weekend. It was crazy busy... meeting with my friends from Hope for pictures; then some of Scott's friends to meet a new baby, walk around campus, hit the bookstore and have lunch while Ella napped; then my friends again for dinner and craziness with 10 kiddies. -- all in one day. Charity was kind enough to offer us a place to stay Saturday night, so we grabbed some Captain Sundae, crashed, then got up and did breakfast, Veldheer's and the State Park before heading home this afternoon. Did we miss anything??? What a whirlwind!

It was great to see my friends after so very long and it was super to be in Holland for basically the first time in a good 2 1/2 years. It made me SO happy and had me asking, "Why don't we live here?" Alas, we are probably rooted in southeast Michigan for the long haul and Holland will remain a wonderful escape.
As if things were not busy enough, Ella celebrated turning 7 months old today by learning to get herself from belly to a sitting position this morning, deciding that shreiking loudly and in varying pitches is her favorite activity and when she isn't doing that, she is making that pig-like/snorty/itching the back of the throat noise that Scott always makes that drives me nuts. It is ever more clear that the nature half of the nature/nurture battle has been won by Scott -- he even gets credit for her being a girl in the first place. Ella is generally on the move and I expect to see her crawling within the next 3-4 weeks. Life is about to change!
Here are some pics from the weekend.
