Highlights of the trip include Ella's continuing ability to sleep anywhere, through anything. She did well with all of the transitions and slept through the fireworks Saturday night which were basically r
ight outside her window. She has started using her hands, which is really great for her because now she can explore her feet further. Feet are SO where it's at for her and her obsession continues as she constantly grabs and sucks on her toes. She really thinks she is pretty hot stuff and will gurgle and stick her belly out with pride when we praise her abilities. She has also started to really notice the other kids and animals around her and missed a few morning naps because Caleb, in particular, was too interesti
ng to miss! This trip included her first view of Lake Michigan and her first trip to Riverside on the Platte River, just down the street from the Francis house. She was not yet impressed, but maybe we'll get to see the beach more next time. She also had her first boat rides, which she loved, just kicking back and enjoying the breeze, contrary to what it seems like in the picture of her flipping off the camera. I took that and did realize what she was doing until later. My little angel.
For me, the joy came in being a Mom first and foremost with no school hanging over my head. It was just perfect to spend time with my little family.
