Always an explanation

There is something I've learned over and over (sometimes I'm not too quick) about my kids. When their personalities seem to change overnight, there's always an explanation... and I usually guess about 10 wrong reasons before the right one becomes apparent.

This time, it was Benjamin seeming to lose his mind and become Mr. Cranky Pants around 4:00 every day for the past 3 days. Scott even hauled him to the doctor yesterday because we thought maybe his ears were still bugging him. Nope. His ears are fine. But while talking about the comments of the ladies in the nursery today about how huge Benjamin is, we realized that he gained 6 ounces from his doctor visit on Monday to his doctor visit on Saturday. Oh my! So he's having a growth spurt. A-ha.

And I wondered why he was eating so much.

So today, we institute the 4 pm snack in addition to 3 large meals of solids and lots of nursing around the clock to see if it makes him happier. He ate about as much as Ella at lunch today -- including some peas, chicken and rice from my soup (yes, actual chicken!!). It's a whole new world. This week, we'll try more table food as long as he mashes it okay and soon enough, he'll get that steak!

jen...so jealous of the good eater! i am lucky to get a good meal into beckett .....as she will only eat table food, but most of the time plays with it more than eats it, it is a wonder how she is still in the 85% for her weight. and good for you with sticking to the nursing, i am jealous of that too...bex gave it up at 6 mos, and knowing that she was my last...it was an emotional break for me.

Kim, your girls have very definite ideas on food, don't they? I am sorry you struggle with eating with Beckett... and sleeping... oh dear. Do you need a vacation?? And remember, nursing with Ella was about over at 4 months. Benjamin is not about to let me far enough away to give it up!
