Recovery

It's over! Benjamin did have his surgery today and all went very well. Since it sounded like he needed a good deal of corrective work done in addition to the circumcision, we were expecting to be at the hospital for a long time. However, we got there at 8:30, they took him at about 10:10 and we were out of there by 12:20. Not too bad. He was HUNGRY when we met him in recovery, and he was not at all a fan of the hospital. Once we got him fed and moving, however, he was good old Benjamin. Laid back, goofy and cuddly.

The hospital staff fell in love with him and, no surprise, marveled at his size. He weighed in at 24 1/2 pounds, exactly (we were told) twice the size of the other "puny" 6-month-old that was in this morning. One nurse snatched him up and took him away to meet everyone and wherever we went, we heard, "Oh, what a cute baby!" from passers by.

So far, at home, he has been sleepy, which is great. The next 24 hours should give us a good idea as to what we will be dealing with in terms of pain management, care and keeping him still!
The best part of the day was that I felt oddly calm. Of course, this is a new experience, but I felt a level of peace that I could not have expected. Thank you all for your prayers!
