Ella and the Rooster

Isn't it funny what kids get attached to? Ella likes to watch the Wiggles. The newer episodes include "Dorothy's Dancing Alphabet" in which a letter is introduced, corresponding with a word or item and then there is a dance about that word or item. For example, "r" is for rooster, and they will do the Rooster Dance. This dance includes placing one hand on top of your head as if it is the rooster's comb, one on your backside like the rooster's tail and strutting around. Ella thinks this is pretty cool. And she looooves to, "cock-a-doodle-doo!" rather shrilly at the top of her lungs. So endearing.

When we went to the park with Laura and Henry right before vacation, we visited the adjoining petting zoo. Ella met several roosters. When she first saw them, she stopped dead in her tracks, then she eased over, started "showing them her rooster", and finally had the daylights scared right out of her when one let loose with a "cock-a-doodle-do" about a foot from her face. We have contemplated having her be a rooster for Halloween, but somehow that seems too wierd.

We can't wait to go back to the petting zoo with Laura and Henry to play and visit the roosters again!

Taking it all in.... real roosters!

Showing off her rooster pride.

Post "cock-a-doodle-doo" shock.

Petting a horse for the first time. She loves them, too.

"Fruit... on the ground? Woah, this place is cool!"
